Peggy and Debbie, founders of The Stairlift Store

We Started This for Our Mom

We started our medical supply business in 1998, due to our Mother's health problems. At that time, we began selling and servicing scooters, power wheelchairs, and vehicle lifts. As our business grew, we began to offer stairlifts, elevators, porch lifts, ramps, and dumbwaiters. Since 1998, we have made life easier for thousands of families in the upper Texas Gulf Coast Region. No one should have to give up a lifestyle, home, or neighborhood they love, because of limited mobility. Elevators, Porch Lifts, and Stairlifts are economical solutions to keep loved ones in their home or in the home of a family member. The cost of selling a home, a one month stay at an assisted living center, or one month at a nursing home is high compared to lift equipment. We have lifting equipment for both indoors and outdoors, to meet most any budget. The products we sell meet the most stringent national and international standards of quality and safety. You can always count on us for quality installation, prompt service, and post-installation maintenance.

Our Story

Our story began with a family trip and a simple wish: we wanted Mom to enjoy every moment with us. Knowing there would be plenty of walking and sightseeing, we reached out to mobility stores for help.

What we didn't expect was how difficult it would be to find someone who truly listened. We encountered confusing quotes and pressure to buy before anyone took the time to understand Mom's needs. We wanted thoughtful guidance from someone who cared about her comfort, independence, and personality.

That experience inspired us to open our business together in 1998. We originally called it Advanced Lifts—a practical choice back when a name beginning with "A" helped people find you in the phone book! We later became known as The Stairlift Store. Mom loved meeting people, hearing their stories, and learning about their lives. Her warmth helped shape the heart of our business and the principle that still guides us today: we start by listening to you.

More than 25 years later, we bring that same care into every home we visit. We take time to understand your daily routines, your concerns, and what would make life easier. Then we help you choose a solution that fits your home and the way you want to live.

What We Believe

Person First

Every recommendation starts with the person who needs help — their home, their habits, their goals — not our inventory.

Honest Advice

We'll tell you if a ramp is a better solution than a stairlift. We'll tell you if a pre-owned unit is just as good as new. We're not here to upsell.

Long-Term Relationship

We service what we sell. We're here for the annual maintenance, the emergency repair, and the day you no longer need the equipment.

Community Roots

We were born and raised in Houston. We've served Houston, Galveston, and surrounding areas for over 25 years. Our customers are our neighbors, and we treat them that way.
